Katie Rhodes, PsyD
Executive Director, Founder
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Virginia Beach, Virginia
My name is Katie Rhodes, I’m a licensed clinical psychologist and practice owner based in Virginia, where I have the privilege of supporting individuals through deeply personal and transformative seasons of their lives. I feel grateful to do this work in a space that allows for reflection, growth, and meaningful connection.
My background in mental health shapes the way I approach my work, taking a holistic and integrative perspective while honoring the complexity of each person’s lived experience. I center the impact of trauma, relationships, and life transitions in my practice, understanding how these experiences shape identity, emotional patterns, and overall well-being.
I’m guided by the belief that healing happens in safe, attuned relationships and that meaningful change is possible when we begin to understand ourselves with greater compassion and clarity. This work is deeply important to me because I’ve seen how powerful it can be when someone feels truly seen and supported. For me, therapy is a space of returning to yourself—reconnecting with your inner voice, building emotional resilience, and creating a life that feels aligned, grounded, and genuinely your own.
My educational and professional training has shaped the foundation of my work as a therapist. I completed my doctoral training in San Diego, where I developed a strong clinical framework grounded in evidence-based practice, trauma-informed care, and a deep respect for the complexity of human experience. Following this, I pursued postdoctoral training in Chicago, where I further refined my clinical skills and worked with diverse populations across a range of settings.
After completing my training, I began my professional work providing therapy and continued to grow in my clinical approach, integrating both structured interventions and relational, insight-oriented work. I later returned home to Virginia, where I had the opportunity to work closely with active duty service members. This experience deepened my understanding of the unique stressors, transitions, and resilience within military life.
Over time, my work expanded to include veterans as well as individuals from a variety of backgrounds, each bringing their own stories, challenges, and strengths. These experiences have shaped a practice that is both grounded and flexible—one that honors each person’s path while providing thoughtful, informed care.
After hours, you can find me snuggling my pug, taking long walks on the beach, on a quiet mission to find the tastiest crunch in town, and—when the season calls for it—fully embracing joy by going down water slides at the local waterpark.
Keely Johnson, PsyD
Clinical Director
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Virtual Only
Welcome! My name is Keely Johnson and I am a licensed clinical psychologist based in Oklahoma. I specialize in working with adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, relationship challenges, life transitions, and childhood trauma. I also have experience supporting individuals healing from religious trauma, sexual issues, domestic violence, emotional abuse, narcissistic abuse, and other difficult life experiences.
I believe therapy works best when it feels like a genuine partnership. My approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in compassion. I strive to create a space where you can show up fully — without judgment, pressure, or the need to have everything “figured out.” Together, we’ll explore patterns that may be keeping you stuck, build practical coping tools, and work toward a life that feels more connected, balanced, and meaningful.
I completed my doctoral training at the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego, where my clinical training emphasized evidence-based approaches, psychological assessment, and trauma-informed care across diverse populations. My education provided a strong foundation in understanding how life experiences, relationships, and emotional patterns influence overall mental health and well-being.
During my internship at the University of Oklahoma Counseling Center, I worked closely with college students navigating academic stress, identity development, relationship concerns, anxiety, depression, and the emotional impact of the pandemic. This experience strengthened my ability to support individuals during periods of uncertainty, transition, and high pressure while helping them build coping skills, resilience, and self-understanding.
My postdoctoral training focused on working with children and families, where I received specialized training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and psychological evaluations. As my clinical work evolved, I further developed my training in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), expanding my approach to supporting individuals navigating trauma, anxiety, and life transitions. Over time, my work deepened my understanding of how early life experiences shape adulthood, relationships, and emotional well-being. Today, I work closely with adults processing childhood trauma and its lasting effects.
Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, playing volleyball, hot yoga, and spending time with friends and family. I’m always up for a good game night, exploring local shops, or finding small ways to stay connected and grounded in everyday life.
Amy Echstenkamper
LCSW
Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Virtual Only
Welcome! My name is Amy Echstenkamper, I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have had the honor of doing this work for over 12 years. My career has been shaped so deeply by the amazing clients I’ve had, whose bravery, resilience, and openness has taught me so much about human tenacity and growth. Trauma work is my passion, and I have significant experience dealing with domestic violence, sexual trauma, and childhood neglect and abuse. I also focus on the trauma that uniquely impacts minority groups and the LGBTQIA+ community, specifically addressing the effects of sociopolitical oppression, religious trauma, and social/familial rejection or estrangement.
I gravitate toward eclectic and humanistic approaches to care, using a combination of Trauma-Focused CBT, Liberation Psychology, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic and Attachment theories, and Mindfulness principles to treat the effects of trauma. I also love to address the impacts of more persistent and immutable experiences like grief, chronic illness, and disability through the use of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
Other areas of interest and expertise include work with military personnel/veterans, life transitions, existential questioning, and queer identity exploration. My approach to the therapeutic process is authentic, warm, and relational; I strive to show up to sessions with my full self and to honor how complex and messy and beautiful this process can be.
I’m dually licensed in NC and VA, so I’m accepting clients from both states. I’m currently only offering virtual sessions with the potential of expanding to in-person at a later date.
